The St. Moritz winter of 2026/27 runs from the women's Audi FIS Ski World Cup on 18 to 20 December 2026 to the Engadin Skimarathon on Sunday 14 March 2027, and the heart of it is six weeks on and around the frozen lake: Snow Polo and the bobsleigh World Cup on the same weekend, 22 to 24 January, classic cars at The I.C.E. on 29 and 30 January, and White Turf, in its 120th year, on the Sundays of 7, 14 and 21 February. All of those dates are now published by the organisers, and so are most of the prices. I am Pau Gallardo Campos, I run Alpina Travels from Zurich, and I plan hotel stays and rail journeys around events like these. Below is every major date, what it costs to watch, and how to build a stay around it.
If you already know which weekend you want, the room is the part to secure first, because the grand hotels fill before the event programmes are even printed. Ask me to find you a room for your St. Moritz weekend and I will tell you which hotels still have space on those dates.

Audi FIS Ski World Cup, 18 to 20 December 2026
The women's speed and technical skiers open the St. Moritz winter on Corviglia: a Super-G on Friday 18 December and another on Saturday 19 December, both starting at 10:30, then a giant slalom on Sunday 20 December with runs at 09:30 and 12:30. It is the first women's giant slalom in St. Moritz since the 2017 World Championships. The finish area and public village are at Salastrains, reached by the Corviglia funicular from the village to Chantarella.
The organiser's 2026 prices rise towards the weekend. Standing in the finish area is CHF 30 on Friday, CHF 50 on Saturday and CHF 45 on Sunday; the grandstand is CHF 45, CHF 85 and CHF 60. The heated Panorama Lounge is CHF 150, 250 and 200, and the VIP tent, with food and drink, CHF 390, 590 and 490, both excluding VAT. Children from 6 to 16 pay reduced prices. My view: the VIP tent on Friday is the sensible way to see a World Cup race in comfort, and the Saturday premium buys you a crowd and a concert more than better skiing. It is also the quietest event weekend of the season for hotels, a week before the Christmas rush.
The Cresta Run, 17 December 2026 to 28 February 2027
The Cresta is a natural ice run from St. Moritz down to Celerina, ridden head first on a skeleton toboggan, and it belongs to the St. Moritz Tobogganing Club. The club's calendar has the run opening on Thursday 17 December 2026, the Grand National on Saturday 13 February 2027, and the season ending with the Payne Cup on Sunday 28 February 2027. Watching from the banks costs nothing and needs no ticket; go in the morning, because riding finishes before lunch.
Riding is possible for non-members through the club's Supplementary List, after the Beginners' Course. Riders over 30 pay CHF 500 for the first five rides and CHF 57 for each ride after that; riders under 30 pay CHF 41 a ride. Equipment is included, and you pay at the bar in the clubhouse. You must be there by 08:00 in December and 07:30 in January and February, and late arrivals do not ride. The club's own terms page quotes slightly lower per-ride figures (CHF 55 and CHF 39), so confirm with the Secretariat before you budget. It is not for everyone, and it is not meant to be.
Snow Polo World Cup, 22 to 24 January 2027
The 42nd Snow Polo World Cup is played on the frozen lake from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 January 2027, with the polo village open from 10:30 to 16:30 each day and the final at 14:30 on Sunday. Thursday 21 January has free practice games from 12:00 to 15:00, grandstand included, which is the best value afternoon of the whole season. On Saturday at 13:30 there is a Schlitteda, the traditional parade of horse-drawn sleighs.
The organiser's 2027 ticket shop is already open. General admission is CHF 30 a day, and under-16s enter free. The Perrier-Jouët Chukker Club grandstand, with a glass of champagne, canapés and a blanket, is CHF 150. The VIP tent, with a seated lunch and the VIP grandstand, is CHF 800 on Friday and CHF 1,200 on Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday VIP tickets and the CHF 1,800 gala dinner at the Victoria hotel were already sold out on 31 October 2026, with a waiting list by email. If you want the VIP tent, Sunday, with the final, is the day still available and the better match.
IBSF Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup, 22 to 24 January 2027

The same weekend, the Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz-Celerina hosts the IBSF World Cup in skeleton, monobob, two-man and four-man bob. The venue lists it on its ticket page for Friday 22 to Sunday 24 January 2027, and Engadin tourism carries the same dates; I could not check the IBSF's own calendar, so treat the venue as the source. Tickets are CHF 25 a day or CHF 50 for the weekend, and under-16s are free. A VIP ticket for Saturday and Sunday is on sale but its 2027 price is not published yet.
This is the oldest bob run in the world still in use and the only natural ice track on the World Cup circuit. Outside race days, from 22 December, you can ride it yourself behind a professional pilot: a guest ride is CHF 269 per person, and riders aged 70 or over need a medical certificate. Bob racing starts in the early morning and the polo runs until 16:30, so you can see both in one day without hurry.
The I.C.E., 29 and 30 January 2027
The International Concours of Elegance puts classic and exceptional cars on the frozen lake on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 January 2027, with a judged concours and cars driven on the ice. The dates are listed by Engadin St. Moritz tourism and Switzerland Tourism. The 2027 programme and spectator prices are not published yet. Buy only from the organiser or the tourism office when they are; resellers are already listing tickets that do not exist yet.
White Turf, Sundays 7, 14 and 21 February 2027

Horse racing on the frozen lake, flat, trotting and skikjöring, for the 120th year. The race days are the Sundays of 7, 14 and 21 February 2027, and the Saturdays before them, 6, 13 and 20 February, are White Turf Family Days. On the official ticket page, standing is CHF 29, the inner oval CHF 55 (100 places), Grandstand B CHF 55, A2 CHF 89 and A1 CHF 99, each including a race card and betting voucher, and children under 16 enter the standing area free.
The lounges are where the price tells you to book now. The White Turf Lounge is CHF 440 per person until 20 December 2026 and CHF 490 from 21 December; the GAMMA Lounge, with live cooking, oysters and the Laurent-Perrier bar, is CHF 770, then CHF 850. Both include the VIP terrace at the rail and a Grandstand B seat. Sunday 14 February is also Valentine's Day, and the Cresta Grand National is the morning before. I cover the lounges, the betting and how each Sunday differs in my White Turf 2027 guide.
Engadin Skimarathon, Sunday 14 March 2027

The 57th Engadin Skimarathon is 42 kilometres from Maloja to S-chanf on Sunday 14 March 2027, across the frozen lakes and past St. Moritz, with the 18th Engadin Halbmarathon, 21 kilometres from Maloja to Pontresina, on the same morning. The organiser also lists the women's race, the Engadin Frauenlauf, 17 kilometres, on Sunday 7 March, and the Engadin Nachtlauf, 17 kilometres by night, on Thursday 11 March. Watching costs nothing. For spectators this is the end of the high season: the light is long, the snow is usually still good, and hotel prices are already easing.
New Year's Eve
The grand hotels each hold their own New Year's Eve dinner and party. These are for house guests first, and the programmes are not published yet; if New Year matters, choose the hotel for its evening and ask the hotel before you book the room.
Where to stay
St. Moritz has a small number of grand hotels, all within a few minutes of the lake: Badrutt's Palace and the Kulm in the upper village, Suvretta House on its own grounds west of the village, the Carlton overlooking the lake, and Grace La Margna right by the station, which matters if you arrive by train with luggage. Every event in this guide is a short walk or taxi from any of them.
Prices peak twice: over Christmas and New Year, when minimum stays are common, and through February, when White Turf weekends overlap with school holidays. Mid-December and March are noticeably calmer. For the polo and bob weekend and for any White Turf Sunday, I would secure the room six months ahead; on 31 October the Saturday polo VIP tent was already gone, which tells you how early the weekend fills. Ask me to find you a room for your St. Moritz event weekend. I can arrange the hotel, the train and, where the organiser sells them, the tickets or hospitality.
Getting there by train
From Zurich it is about 3 h 15 to St. Moritz, changing once at Chur. The last two hours, from Chur over the Albula line, are part of the Rhaetian Railway's UNESCO World Heritage route, through spiral tunnels and over the Landwasser Viaduct, and it is the right way to arrive. Once there you need no car: the lake, the bob run and the ski lifts are all reached on foot or by a short taxi. If you are adding a train day, the Bernina Express from St. Moritz runs all winter, and the Glacier Express links St. Moritz with Zermatt.
My advice
- The best weekend for a first visit is 22 to 24 January. Bob racing in the morning, polo on the lake in the afternoon, and the free practice polo on Thursday if you arrive early. Two events for one hotel stay.
- Book White Turf lounges before 20 December. The price rises by CHF 50 to CHF 80 per person from 21 December, and the GAMMA Lounge tables are for 8 or 10, so a couple will usually share.
- Wait for the organiser on The I.C.E. and ignore resellers until official prices are out. Combine it with White Turf's first weekend if you want a longer stay.
- Want the Cresta? Plan a week, not a weekend. The Beginners' Course comes first and the mornings start before 08:00.
- Prefer calm to crowds? Come for the ski World Cup in mid-December or the Skimarathon in March, when rooms are easier and cheaper.
- Combine it with a rail journey. St. Moritz is one of the stops on the Swiss Wellness Grand Tour, so an event weekend can be the start or end of a longer trip.
